Delaware Center for Mindfulness (DCFM) provides counseling services, spiritual mentoring, and mindful-based programs that are designed to assist people with managing stress, pain and general mental health and wellness. The focus of these programs combines mindfulness meditation, body awareness, Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong to assist people in becoming more mindful in their everyday lives. The traditional MBSR 8 week program offered at DCFM follows the curriculum that was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Other mindfulness programs are customized depending on the needs of a particular individual or group.

DCFM offers workshops and programs from a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) perspective as well as from the Buddhist mindfulness and insight meditation of Vipassana, the direct experience of sitting meditation of the Zen tradition, and the mind-body cultivation of the Taoist tradition.

In decades of research from the fields of medicine, psychology and the integrative approach of mind/body medicine, it is suggested that MBSR and Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBI) has beneficial effects, including stress reduction, relaxation, and improvements in quality of life. While MBSR has its roots in spiritual teachings, the program itself is secular.
